canada goose zhengzhou dennis david city pop-up pavilion

client: canada goose
location: zhengzhou dennis david city, zhengzhou, china
type: luxury retail / temporary installation

dkstudio architects inc. designed the Zhengzhou Pop-Up Pavilion as an architectural installation within a multi-level luxury retail atrium. Rather than operating as a conventional shop-in-shop, the project functions as a spatial landmark — an environment intended to be experienced from both within the pavilion and from the surrounding circulation levels.

The architecture is generated from the Canada Goose disc logo. Derived from an Arctic map, the emblem’s latitude and longitude grid is abstracted into a structural and spatial framework that defines enclosure, ceiling, and lighting. The project converts a graphic identity into inhabitable form, allowing the brand to be communicated through space rather than applied signage.

A suspended disc canopy anchors the composition and establishes a strong vertical presence within the atrium. Integrated linear lighting traces the framework, referencing reinforcement stitching found in Canada Goose outerwear. Below, a continuous deep blue floor surface evokes the Arctic landscape associated with the brand’s heritage while softening the geometry of the metal structure.

Retail fixtures are deliberately restrained to preserve openness and permeability. Visitors move freely through the structure, allowing the pavilion to operate simultaneously as retail environment, exhibition space, and social gathering point. The emphasis shifts from transaction toward encounter, reinforcing the brand’s narrative of performance, endurance, and protection through experience.

The project demonstrates how temporary architecture can achieve the presence of a permanent building by translating identity, material expression, and human movement into a cohesive spatial system.

Primary Materials: CNC-cut aluminum and steel framing systems, powder-coated metal panels, integrated LED lighting, and commercial carpet flooring.
