"Climate change is the defining crisis of our time and it is happening even more quickly than we feared. But we are far from powerless in the face of this global threat."

UN Environment

"A full 32% of the 78 million tons of plastic packaging produced annually is left to flow into our oceans; the equivalent of pouring one garbage truck of plastic into the ocean every minute. If we carry on as usual, this is expected to increase to two per minute by 2030 and four per minute by 2050".

World Economic Forum,Oct 27, 2016

In the face of these unprecedented challenges, dkstudio seeks to re-define classic narratives on design, the environment and taking action as individuals and designers in the digital age.

  1. As designers we can use the power of design to be able to address & start to fix large global problems.

  2. With so many issues facing the planet today, it is no longer enough to simply take care of yourself, your family & your business. Every single one of us now has a role to play.

  3. You don’t have to be an environmentalist to help the planet.

dkstudio's environmental arm One Piece a Day tackles the dual challenge of global litter & plastic pollution. With a global user base and presence in 44 countries, the One Piece A Day app has tracked over 4 million pieces of litter picked up worldwide. One Piece a Day is also an educational platform. An official partner of the Toronto School Board, and having worked with different environmental groups at the UofT, York U, Humber and Seneca colleges, we have reached thousands of children and students with our work and simple message that small actions by many change the world.

dkstudio and One Piece A Day have also joined forces to create a new initiative whereby we collect ocean plastic and through the use of 3d printing, create useful and dynamic design products.
