dkstudio worked closely with lead architects Atkins (Dubai) and interior consultants Space Matrix to develop the concept design for an office complex that could accommodate up to 10 thousand people in Bangalore, known as the I.T. hub of India. The complex incorporates two office wings that together stretch over 1 million sq. ft.; the two wings are connected by a two-storey central bridge which will serve as a grand cafeteria space with a dramatic rooftop terrace for cafeteria overflow and functions.
The design of the interiors was inspired by the lush tropical South Indian landscape of Bangalore, and the concept of connectivity: how to create a sense of community within a complex of thousands of employees. Access to central facilities, tall ceilings, unobstructed views in several directions, the widespread use of integrated planting elements in the architecture and interior, light shelves, and the use of natural local materials in key public areas contribute to the focus on connecting people to people and staff to landscape. The project is being designed for LEED Platinum Certification.
